The National Portrait Awards was founded in 2016 with the launch of The Pet Portrait Awards in the South west England. Within a very short time, the Pet Portrait Awards went nationwide with Portrait Studios across the UK helping to raise money for DogsTrust. Focusing on Dogs they saw 1000’s of dogs visit studios nationwide to support this fantastic award.
By February 2017, The National Portrait Awards launched The Family Portrait Awards which raised money for CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young. Cry are an amazing charity that helps….
The Children’s Portrait Awards was also launched which helped raise money for The Lullaby Trust in England, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as CHAS – Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
Since the awards began in 2016, the National Portrait Award accredited studios have captured over 15,000 portrait sessions with over £150,000 being donated to these amazing charities direct from the portrait session donations. A further £50,000 has been raised through Gift vouchers donated to the charities to help with their fundraising on a national basis.
The National Portrait Awards work closely with many of the charities with their national events to help publicise the work that they do.
In 2019, the National Portrait Awards Photographers attended the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Guinness World Record Attempt to photographer the most dogs on one day. Unfortunately, Although we broke the UK record we ran out of dogs to photograph at 426 The world record was beaten the week before in Russia. The event was however a huge success, raising awareness and much-needed funds for the Guide Dogs Association.
